Champagne from Champagne, ... a double
celebration.
A very special wine
Nature's unique contribution to Champagne.
Champagne vines are planted in a thick chalky sub-soil, ideal
for the vines. It stores the heat of the sun and reflects
warmth to the roots, it assures perfect drainage, yet preserve
sufficient humidity in the soil. It also supplies mineral
elements to the vines to give grapes their unique characteristics.
The average annual temperature is 10.5°C (51°F). Variations
in altitude, angle of slope and exposure to the sun create
microclimates that give grapes their exceptional quality.
Three grape varieties have proven over centuries to be matched
perfectly with Champagne's region : Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier
(black) and the Chardonnay (white).
